This pepper steak stir-fry is a quick and flavorful meal made with tender steak, crisp bell peppers, onions, garlic, and ginger. A savory soy-based marinade and Hazy Midnight add extra depth, while fresh herbs and sesame seeds bring it all together.

Ingredients

  • For the Steak Marinade
1 pound Flank steak thinly sliced against the grain
1/4 cup Soy sauce or coconut aminos
    1 teaspoon Black pepper
    3 teaspoons Hazy Midnight
    1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • For the Stir Fry
1 cup Bell pepper sliced, any color
    1 cup Broccoli florets
    1 medium Onion sliced
    3 cloves Garlic minced
    1 tablespoon Ginger minced
    1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • For the Sauce
1 cup Beef broth (use low-sodium if desired)
  • For Garnish
    2 tablespoons Green onions sliced
    1 tablespoon Toasted sesame seeds
    2 tablespoons Chopped fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Slice the Steak
Begin by thinly slicing the flank steak against the grain, ensuring uniform pieces about 1/4 inch thick. Set aside.

  2. Prep the Veggies
Cut the bell pepper and onion into thin strips, mince the garlic and ginger finely, keeping all ingredients handy.

  3. Marinate
In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, black pepper, Hazy Midnight and cornstarch, then toss the steak in to marinate for 10-15 minutes.

  4. Sear the Steak
Heat avocado oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Sear the steak for 2-3 minutes until browned and juicy. Remove from pan.

  5. Stir-Fry the Veggies
Add onion, garlic, ginger, and bell pepper to the pan and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until tender-crisp.

  6. Add the Sauce
Return the seared steak to the pan and add beef broth and some soy sauce, cooking for an additional minute.

  7. Finish & Serve
Season with extra black pepper and garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, and cilantro before serving hot.
