This ain’t your grandma’s fried chicken... unless she likes it HOT. 🔥
Crispy, juicy, and coated in that sticky-sweet heat from our Volcanic Sunset (Honey Garlic Habanero) seasoning, this fried chicken recipe brings serious crunch with a spicy punch. Warning: may cause addiction and bragging rights at the dinner table.
Ingredients
-
8 pieces of chicken (drumsticks & thighs = maximum juiciness)
-
2 cups buttermilk
-
2 cups all-purpose flour
-
Volcanic Sunset (aka your new obsession) – to taste
-
2 teaspoons salt
-
High-heat oil or lard for frying
Instructions
-
Marinate the magic: In a large bowl, pour buttermilk over your chicken pieces and let them soak for at least 30 minutes (longer = juicier).
-
Mix up the magic dust: In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, and as much Volcanic Sunset as your tastebuds can handle. We’re talking bold.
-
Heat things up: Bring oil or lard to 350°F in a heavy pot. (Use a thermometer or toss in a pinch of flour and look for sizzle).
-
Batter up: Take chicken from the buttermilk bath, let it drip, then coat it like it owes you money. Get into all the cracks.
-
Fry it up: Gently place chicken in hot oil, skin side down. Fry about 7–8 minutes per side until deeply golden, crispy, and begging to be devoured.
-
Cool your jets: Remove and let drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Let it rest a couple minutes... if you can wait that long.
Chef’s Tip
Want it extra wild? Hit that crispy skin with a light dusting of Volcanic Sunset after frying. Boom. Mic drop.
