Spicy Mustard Deviled Eggs with a Kick

Mar 30, 2024

Looking for a way to turn your grandma’s “nice but boring” deviled eggs into the life of the party? These Spicy Mustard Deviled Eggs aren’t your average potluck filler—they’re bold, zesty, and packing enough heat to make your Easter bunny sweat.

Short Intro

Whether it’s game day, Easter Sunday, or just Tuesday night, these fiery little flavor bombs bring tangy mustard vibes with a spicy kick that keeps everyone reaching for seconds. Scorching Afternoon (our spicy mustard rub) adds the heat and a whole new level of sass to this classic dish. Warning: once you serve them, you may never be allowed to show up without them again.

Recipe Info

  • Feeds: 6 people (as an appetizer/side)

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes

  • Cook Time: 10 minutes

  • Total Time: 25 minutes

  • Cook Temp: Medium-high boil

  • Servings: 12 deviled egg halves

Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs

  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise (full-fat for maximum creaminess, don’t skimp)

  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

  • 2 teaspoons Scorching Afternoon (Spicy Mustard Rub)

  • Garnish: chives, paprika, or extra seasoning (optional, but highly recommended for flair)

Instructions

  1. Boil the Eggs:

    • Place eggs in a small pot, cover with cold water (at least an inch above eggs).

    • Bring to a rolling boil over medium-high heat, cover with a lid.

    • Once boiling, remove from heat and let sit, covered, for 10 minutes.

  2. Cool and Peel:

    • Drain hot water and transfer eggs into a bowl of ice-cold water.

    • Let them chill for at least 5 minutes before peeling (your sanity will thank you).

  3. Slice and Scoop:

    • Carefully peel eggs and cut them in half lengthwise.

    • Pop the yolks into a mixing bowl, setting whites aside.

  4. Make the Filling:

    • Mash yolks with a fork until crumbly.

    • Mix in mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and apple cider vinegar until smooth and creamy.

  5. Season with Fire:

    • Sprinkle Scorching Afternoon into the yolk mixture and stir well.

    • Taste test (if your mouth doesn’t tingle, add a pinch more).

  6. Assemble Like a Pro:

    • Lay a light layer of Scorching Afternoon in a shallow dish.

    • Dip the cut side of the egg whites (the hollow side) gently into the seasoning.

    • Pipe or spoon the yolk mixture back into each egg white half.

  7. Garnish & Serve:

    • Top with chives, extra seasoning, or even a crispy bacon crumble if you’re feeling wild.

    • Serve immediately—or refrigerate until your guests arrive to devour them.

Tips & Notes

  • Want extra spice? Add a dash of hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne to the yolk filling.

  • For smoother yolks, push the filling through a mesh strainer before mixing.

  • Use a piping bag (or a Ziploc with the corner cut off) for a professional “fancy egg” look.

  • These are best eaten the same day, but leftovers will keep for up to 2 days in the fridge.

Classic deviled eggs just got their glow-up. The tangy Dijon, creamy mayo, and fiery kick of Scorching Afternoon make these a crave-worthy snack that brings the heat without overpowering. Perfect for cookouts, brunches, or any time you want to surprise your taste buds.
